2013 Habitat 500

Habitat 500 - 500 Miles. One State. One Mission. The cause is simple: provide safe, decent, affordable housing for God’s people in need. The means is compelling: efficient and effective use of donated resources and volunteers to provide repair, renovation and construction of homes with people who desire a better life and are willing to work for it. The evidence is strong: families that have a dependable place to call home and a stable home life thrive, especially children.

There are two organizations that excel at this work: the Fuller Center for Housing and Habitat for Humanity. The link between the Fuller Center and Habitat is the founder of both: Millard Fuller. Together with his wife Linda they developed the concept of partnership housing with the vision of eliminating poverty housing worldwide.

Not competition, but cooperation and collaboration so that more people can be served is the driving force behind my return to the Habitat 500 Bike Ride this year to raise money and awareness for the COMMON CAUSE of the Fuller Center for Housing and Habitat for Humanity.

The 2013 Habitat 500 is a 500 mile bike ride through the state of Minnesota. I am riding to support two projects:

  • The Fuller Center for Housing of Greater Kansas City MO – the Covenant Partner organization for which I am a founding board member is building our second home this year. Preparation of the lot has begun, homeowner applications are under review and groundbreaking is planned for August. It is a very exciting time for us!
  • Habitat for Humanity Oskaloosa County is the affiliate in Fort Walton Beach, FL for which my brother, Henry, is a board member and has worked as a volunteer on many of their homes. Habitat Okaloosa is building their 50th home called Patriot Place to honor active duty and veteran members of the military community. The project is inspired by their construction manager, Ray Burgess, a military veteran who passed away last year. 10% of Habitat donations will also support the 2013 Bike.Home.

I invite you to make a generous gift in support of providing decent, affordable housing for God’s people in need. You can choose to support the Fuller Center for Housing of Greater Kansas City. You can choose to support Habitat for Humanity. Or you can join me in the COMMON CAUSE of both organizations and give to both!
Donations can be made by check and mailed or by credit card online. Here’s how:

Thank you for supporting the cause of affordable housing for people in need and supporting me.

In Christian partnership,

Graham
